Cooling Centres in Burnaby

Heat can kill people, through heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Burnaby offers free cooling centres open to everyone when there’s extreme heat.

Locations of Cooling Centres

These cooling centres are open from 10 am to 10 pm daily on days of extreme heat.
– Bonsor Recreation Complex (6550 Bonsor Ave)
– Cameron Community Centre (9523 Cameron St)
– Edmonds Community Centre (7433 Edmonds St)
– Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool & Fitness Centre (240 Willingdon Ave)
– Civic Square (NW corner of McKay and Central Boulevard) – open 11 am to 5:30 pm

Other Options

You can also go to any public city building when they are open to cool down. These include recreation centres, libraries, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, and City Hall.

If you stay at home, here are some things you can do

  • Drink lots of water
  • Take a cool shower
  • Close curtains to keep the sun out
  • Use air conditioning if you have it
