It’s Pride season! Pride season in Canada is from June to September and honours the 2SLGBTQI+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and other people who identify as part of sexual and gender diverse communities) communities and their allies. You’ll find some Pride events in Vancouver and Burnaby below.

History

Pride events in Canada go all the way back to the early 1970s, which is when the first large-scale protests for 2SLGBTQl+ rights occurred in Vancouver and Ottawa. Today, cities across Canada, including in British Columbia, host a variety of events. While Pride season is in the summer, events are also held year-round!
