new year 2022

We sincerely hope everyone is enjoying their final week of 2021. The new year is just around the corner, so let’s get ready by previewing some of the literacy events scheduled for the month of January 2022.

Family Literacy Week: January 23-30

Thousands of schools, libraries, community groups and families across the country celebrate Family Literacy Week on January 23-30. During this week, we will share free resources and contests to empower families to develop their literacy. For more info, you can check out the links at ABC Life Literacy, Decoda Literacy Solutions, and our own page on Family Literacy.

Data Privacy Week: January 24-28

Data Privacy Week helps spread awareness about online privacy and educates citizens on how keep their personal information secure. It also encourages businesses to respect data and be more transparent about how they collect and use customer data. To promote these goals, we will be promoting safe data practices and links to other helpful resources. For more info, you can check out the National Cybersecurity Alliance page.

Multicultural Children’s Book Day: January 28

On the last Friday of January (January 28th), we’ll celebrate Multicultural Children’s Book Day. This is an initiative whose mission is to not only raise awareness for the kid’s books that celebrate diversity, but to get more of these books into classrooms and libraries. Multicultural children’s books are books that contain characters of color as well as main characters that represent a minority point of view. Creators can donate books that will be reviewed and shared on social media, and there will also be sponsorships at a variety of price points.

Looking forward celebrating the new year with you all!
